Hi I'm Rana!
I'm an Electro-Mechanical Mechatronics Engineer based in Brooklyn, New York. I was a mechatronics engineer at four start ups in two years where I specialized in rapid prototyping, testing and development of robots and automation systems from the ideation stage to production. I worked on many kinds of projects ranging from medical devices to drones. Since then, my interests shifted to biomedical engineering and I pivoted into research. More specifically, I am interested in neural engineering and building robotic systems that can interface with the brain.
I graduated with my degree in Mechanical Engineering from the NYU Tandon School of Engineering in May 2023. During my time at NYU, I was the Equipments team lead at the NYU MakerSpace where I specialized in Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) and the ShopBot CNC machine. This specialization solidified my skills in DFM, DFA and in house manufacturing for rapid prototyping.
Currently, I am a research associate at NYU Langone working under the guidance of Dr. Alice Mosberger. This role has allowed me to nurture my engineering side through the development of hardware for experimental set ups, while also giving me the space to train as a neuroscientist.
